James Wan, the director of horror classics from Noticed to Insidious and even The Conjuring, has discovered his subsequent manufacturing. The filmmaker behind manufacturing entity Atomic Monster is government producing “Archive 81”, a supernatural horror sequence that has already acquired an eight-episode order at Netflix, experiences Selection.
Loosely impressed by the found-footage horror podcast of the identical identify, “Archive 81” will star Jurassic World: Dominion and Underwater‘s Mamoudou Athie with “Altered Carbon” alumna Dina Shihabi.
Within the sequence, “When archivist Dan Turner (Athie) takes a mysterious job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994, he finds himself reconstructing the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras (Shihabi) and her investigation into a dangerous cult. As Dan is drawn into Melody’s story, he becomes convinced he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago.”
“Stranger Things” helmer Rebecca Thomas is on board to direct half the season of “Archive 81,” together with the premiere. The sequence additionally hails from author, showrunner and government producer Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys,” “The Vampire Diaries”). Paul Harris Boardman developed the unique script and is on board as an EP. Rob Hackett is a co-executive producer.
The unique “Archive 81” podcast was created by Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell, who function co-producers on the Netflix sequence.
