The Grateful Lifeless‘s version of “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo” from one of keyboardist Brent Mydland’s ultimate reveals earlier than his tragic demise is that this week’s All The Years Dwell video. “Mississippi Half-Step” was recorded at Wealthy Stadium in Orchard Park, New York on July 16, 1990.

“‘Mississippi Half-Step’ debuted at the first Grateful Dead show after Pigpen’s last final show with the band, when the Dead played 7/16/72 in Hartford, CT, 18 years to the day before this performance in Buffalo,” GD archivist David Lemieux wrote in a notice accompanying the video. “It was a common part of the setlist throughout the next 23 years, with the exception of 1983-1984, played a total of 234 times.”

The Grateful Lifeless’s lineup on the time featured guitarists Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, bassist Phil Lesh, Mydland on keys and drummers Mickey Hart and Invoice Kreutzmann. Brent handed away simply 10 days later at age 37.
