The Macy’s worker brutally overwhelmed inside a Michigan mall is requesting leniency for his attacker — who testified this week that his brother falsely claimed the shop supervisor known as him a racial slur.
Damire Palmer, 18, pleaded responsible Wednesday to the caught-on-video June 15 assault on the Flint retailer, native outlet WJRT-TV reported.
However Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton stated the Macy’s worker, who continues to be coping with the trauma of the assault, declined to take the stand.
As an alternative, they selected a plea settlement which dictates that the felony cost towards Palmer — assault with intent to do nice bodily hurt lower than homicide — could be dropped from his document if he completes his sentence.
That sentence might vary from probation to 10 years behind bars, in keeping with the report. On the sufferer’s request, the settlement ensures that the teenager won’t have a felony document.
“Basically, you beat this guy so bad he was quite bloody, correct?” the assistant prosecutor requested Palmer, in keeping with WJRT-TV.
“Yes,” Palmer replied.
“And did you know that he has agreed that you should be treated as a youthful offender even though you beat on him like that?” the assistant prosecutor requested him.
“No, I did not know that,” the teenager answered.
The teenager defined that simply earlier than the assault, he had requested the Macy’s worker a query “about the jacket type that I was about to get.”
After the supervisor replied, the teenager’s brother informed him the employee known as him the n-word, he claimed. He has since discovered that his brother made up that account.
Palmer stated he “wouldn’t know” why his brother would do such a factor, in keeping with the report.
The viral video of the assault even captured President Trump’s consideration.
“Looks what’s going on here,” Trump wrote on June 22. “Where are the protesters? Was this man arrested?”
